Have you ever noticed the changing window display at the front of Bistro Barberet & Bakery? That is the work of Estelle Barberet. You usually find her behind the bakery counter, with a smile on her face, always asking how you are doing as she assists you. She has the most gentle presence at the eatery. She always puts a smile on my face when I walk in because she makes it feel like home. I have to be honest and say I feel so honored that Estelle is my very first “non-Chef” LNC introductions. Often times we all are so focused on the Chef/Owner that we forget about who helps keep the businesses afloat. The people who let’s be honest, without them, businesses cannot thrive. They range from the partner/wife like Estelle to the kitchen prep and servers. I am excited to expand my interviews to all who have turned Lancaster into one of the food meccas of this country.
